Why is a rainbow shaped like an arc?
A rainbow is an optical phenomenon, the result of the light rays refracting in water droplets when it rains.
Not everyone is aware that a rainbow is a circle. Its center lies on a straight line that runs from the Sun through the observer. Seeing the optical phenomenon completely to a person standing on the ground is prevented by the horizon.
