Why do I want to stretch after sleeping?


When sleeping, body temperature and respiration rate decrease and muscles relax as much as possible, this causes the blood flow to decrease.

When you stretch, muscles tense, venous blood flow increase, capillaries dilate, and impulses from muscle receptors increase the tone of the brain, making awakening final.
